Portolano Cavallo recognized as best firm in Italy (9th year in a row) and best for copyright at the WIBL Awards in Europe.

Leading firm take two awards demonstrating their excellence in Italy.

  • BEST IN COPYRIGHT – LYDIA MENDOLA, PORTOLANO CAVALLO

  • BEST ITALIAN FIRM – PORTOLANO CAVALLO

John Harrison, lead researcher, Women in Business Law said of their awards success “Portolano Cavallo was well represented in the Women in Business Law Awards this year, having been shortlisted in three categories for the firm and two practice areas.

Lydia Mendola is the head of the intellectual property team at the firm and regularly advises businesses on consumer protection and advertising and in the reorganisation and exploitation of intangible asset portfolios.  Among the highlights she is defending the interest of two US based film production companies in two separate cases of copyright infringement before the Court of Rome; and assisting one of the largest jewellers’ manufacturers globally in contentious matters and counselling on contractual and marketing activities.

Portolano Cavallo is a leader for the representation and promotion of women within the Italian legal market.  Of their thirteen practice areas, women including named partner Manuela Cavallo, lead seven of said practices.  The lawyers in the firm are comprised of primarily women, who make up fifty eight percent of the practitioners in the firm.  They have developed notable policies within the scope of gender diversity and mentorship, which helps make them a desirable firm for women working in business law.

Overall Portolano Cavallo has shown a strong development in the promotion of women in the practice of law in Italy and has turned out an award-winning individual in the IP field.”
